PDFJig ("we", "us") runs the free PDF tools at pdfjig.com. This policy explains what happens to your files and information when you use the site. The short version: most tools never upload your files, the few that do delete them right away, we don't have accounts, and the site is paid for by Google ads.
Most PDFJig tools, including Merge, Split, Rotate, Organize, Sign, Edit, Protect, Unlock, Watermark, Page numbers and the PDF to Excel, PowerPoint, JPG and text converters, process your files entirely on your own device. The file is never sent to us or anyone else.
A few features need our server: OCR PDF, the "exact layout" Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF converters, the "best layout" PDF to Word converter, and the Strong and Smallest compression levels. Each of these is labeled "server" in the tool before you run it. When you use one:
PDFJig is free because it shows ads from Google AdSense.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used. Visitors in U.S. states with privacy laws are offered a choice to opt out of personalized ads. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy link Google shows on the page.
The site's fonts are served from our own server. These providers receive your IP address and basic browser information when the page loads, as any website you visit would:
Our server is hosted by Vultr in the United States. Our domain's DNS and our email are handled by Cloudflare.
We do not sell your files or personal information for money. The only parties that receive information about your visit are the services described above. Under some U.S. state laws, showing personalized ads through Google can count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information; you can opt out as described in "Advertising and cookies". We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. Because we keep no accounts and delete uploaded files immediately, we usually hold nothing that identifies you beyond short-lived server logs. To make a request, email us at hello@pdfjig.com. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
For visitors in the EEA and UK: we process server logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and securing the site, uploaded files to provide the tool you asked for, and advertising cookies on the basis of your consent. Our server is in the United States, so information is processed there.
Browsers' "Do Not Track" signals have no common standard, so the site doesn't respond to them. Use the ad choices above to control personalized advertising.
All connections use HTTPS. The server accepts only web and administration traffic, uploaded files are kept in temporary storage only while being processed, and server tools refuse files over 50 MB. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't upload documents you are not allowed to share.
PDFJig is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date above.
